The living and the dead

The Contrast between a person who glorifies Allah and one who does not remember Him is like that between the living and the dead.
[Bukhari, Muslim]

The Mufarridin

Once Rasululah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said,
"The mufarridin have gone far ahead."
'Who are the mufarridin' enquired the Sahaba.
Rasululah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) replied, "Those who are intensively devoted to the zikr of Allah"

To teach or not to teach?

Whoever teaches the reading of the Quran to his son (without memorizing it), all his sins, whether previous or subsequent, will be forgiven. And whoever makes his child memorize the Quran, will be raised on the Day of Judgement in the appearance of a full moon; and his son will be asked to start reciting, and for every ayat read by the child, the status of the parent will be raised to the next higher grade of Jannat, till the recitation of the Quran is completed.
[Tabarani]
Conversely if you deprive your child of knowledge (of religion) for the sake of a few dollars, not only will you be deprived of eternal reward, but you will be held accountable before Allah. Are you depriving your child of reading the Quran for fear that after memorizing the Quran they will be dependent on others for their living?
Please remember that not only do you expose your children to eternal misery, but you carry a very heavy accountability. A hadith says
"Each one of you is a guardian, and will be questioned about those under his control."
Everyone will be questioned about his subordinates and dependents as to what extent he taught them. As a proverb says, " Should one discard clothes for fear of lice?"
If you share religious education to your child, you will be free from your responsibility.
As long as the child lives whatever good deeds he does, whatever salat he performs, and forgiveness that he seeks from Allah for you will elevate your position in Jannah. If for the sake of this life and for a few dollars you keep him ignorant of deen, not only will you have to suffer for this misdeed but whatever evil and misdeeds he does, your account will not be free from this burden. For God's sake have pity on yourselves. This life in only a passing phase and death will put and end to all its hardships, however great, but the sufferings for which there is no end will be everlasting.
At the end of the day Allah will provide for you if you have faith in him. Your child can be a hafiz and have a worldly education as well.
Sayyidina Abdullah Ibn Masood R.A. relates that I heard
Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) say " The one who reads Suratul Waaqiah every night, poverty will not befall him. (Abu-Yala, Baihaqi)
Don't sell your self out for a couple of bucks. The money wont last but the suffering or joy in the hereafter will.
Make your choice.

If you seek knowledge

Ibn Mas'ood said,
" If you seek knowledge, you should meditate on the meanings of the Qur'an, because it embodies the history of the former as well as of latter times."

O Allah, I seek Your forgiveness for all my sins. I ask You to forgive me for all my wrongdoings [mazalim] against people that You have recorded, for there are many rights [huquq] and dues [mazalim] owed to Your servants that I am burdened with and for which I am hostage [murtahin]. O Allah, even if these (wrongdoings) are many they are insignificant in comparison with the magnitude of Your forgiveness. O Allah, any male or female servant of Yours who has rights upon me, in either that I have unjustly taken from him [ghasabtu] in regards to his land, possession, honor, body; whether he was absent or present; or he or his representatives demanded it from me and neither was I able to return it to him nor did I seek release of it from him. So I ask You through Your benevolence, generosity, and abundance of what You possess that You satisfy them on my behalf, and not give them a position over me that will decrease my good deeds; for You possess what You can satisfy them with on my behalf and I do not possess what to satisfy them with; and do not allow for their bad deeds to find a path over my good deeds on the Day of Judgment.

Pure Iman

Some of the Sahaba (peace be upon them) cam to Nabi (صلى الله عليه و سلم ) and asked him: We find that, in our hearts, arise such thoughts that we would be ashamed to talk of them.
He (صلى الله عليه و سلم ) said: Well, do you indeed feel like that?
We said: Yes.
He (صلى الله عليه و سلم ) replied: That is pure Iman

The magnitude of the reward is proportionate

Verily, the magnitude of the reward is proportionate to the magnitude of the affliction. And indeed when Allah loves people He afflicts them, and those who accept it gladly receive Allah's pleasure, but those who are displeased receive Allah's displeasure.

Treat women kindly

" Listen carefully! Treat women kindly. Indeed they are like captives in your hands
( you do not have any rights over them other then being good to them except that when they are guilty of open indecency). If they do so, abandon their beds( give up sleeping with them, but live in the house), and give them a mild punishment. If they act obedient to you, do not try to find excuse against them. Listen carefully! Verily you have rights over your wives, as they have rights over you. Your right is that they should not permit anyone you dislike to come to your beds or enter your house. Listen carefully! Womens rights over your are that you should treat them well in the matter of food and clothing.
[Tirmidhi]

Quran, Torah, & the Gospel

Yusuf
Indeed in their stories, there is a lesson for men of understanding. It (the Quran) is not a forged statement but a confirmation of Allâhs existing Books which were before it [the Taurât (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel) and other Scriptures of Allâh] and a detailed explanation of everything and a guide and a Mercy for the people who believe.
