Which Ayah in Allah's Book is the greatest

The Messenger of Allah
said: "Abu Mundhir! Do you know which Ayah in Allah's Book is the greatest?" I replied: " It is Allah la ilaha illa Huwal-Haiyul-Qayum (Allah! none has the right to be worshiped but He, the Ever Living..." (2:256) Thereupon he
(صلى الله عليه و سلم ) patted me in the chest and said, "Rejoice by this knowledge, O Abu Mundhir!"
[Muslim]

Commentary: The words cited in the Hadith occur in the beginning of Ayat-ul-Kursi (No.256 of Surat Al-Baqarah of the holy Qur'an)

Al-Mu'awwidhatain

The Messenger of Allah
used to seek protection against the evil of jinn and the evil eyes till Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas were revealed. After the were revealed, he took to them for seeking Allah's protection and left everything else besides them.
[At-Tirmidi]

Commentary: These Surah are also called 'Al-Mu'awwidhatain' which mean two Surah which provide protection. It is, therefore very useful to seek the protection of Allah by reciting them.

Read the Qur'an in a nice voice

"He who does not read the Qur'an in a pleasant tone is not of us"
[Abu Dawud]

Commentary: The words "is not of us" mean that he is not following the way of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم )with regard to recitation of the Qur'an.

Read Quran Often

"Read the Qur'an regularly. By the One in Whose Hand Muhammad's
soul is, it escapes from memory faster than a came does from its tying ropes."
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Read Quran

" Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam, is a letter and Mim is a letter."
[At-Tirmidhi]

O son of Adam

‎"O son of Adam, how is your heart ever going to be softened by the recitation of Qur’an when all you read for is to reach the end of the surah?"
— Hasan Al-Basri

Proficient

"The one who is proficient in the recitation of the quran will be honorable and obedient scribes(angels) and he who recited the quran, doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have double reward."
[Al Bukhari and Muslim]
Note: Proficient here means one who reads the Quran in accordance with the rules of Ilm At-Tajwid. The hadith also highlights the merit of the reader of the Quran who does not know Ilm At-Tajwid and for that reason cannot read fluently. but in spite of this, he reads it with great effort. He will be given double reward, one for difficulty encountered in reciting it, another for reading it. Safratun translated in the Hadith as scribes (angels) mean the angels that convey the Wahy (Revelation) to the Messenger of Allah
. Imam Bukhari has taken it to mean "One who makes reconciliation". The angels who bring Wahy and chastisement from Allah.

O you who believe

Al-Maeda
O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allâh as just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allâh. Verily, Allâh is Well-Acquainted with what you do. (8) Allâh has promised those who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism) and do deeds of righteousness, that for them there is forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise) (9)

And Remember

Al-Maeda
And remember Allâh's Favour to you and His Covenant with which He bound you when you said: "We hear and we obey." And fear Allâh. Verily, Allâh is All-Knower of that which is in (secrets of your) breasts. (7)

Al-Kauther

Al-Kauther
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Verily, We have granted you (O Muhammad (SAW)) Al-Kauthar (a river in Paradise);[] (1) Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice (to Him only) (2) For he who hates you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), he will be cut off (from every posterity good thing in this world and in the Hereafter).[] (3)

Good Friends

Do they only wait for the Hour that it shall come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not? Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqûn (pious - see V.2:2) [43:66-67]

Those who disbelieve

Al-Baqara
Verily, those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you (O Muhammad Peace be upon him ) warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe. (6) Allâh has set a seal on their hearts and on their hearings, (i.e. they are closed from accepting Allâh's Guidance), and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be a great torment. (7) And of mankind, there are some (hypocrites) who say: "We believe in Allâh and the Last Day" while in fact they believe not. (8) They (think to) deceive Allâh and those who believe, while they only deceive themselves, and perceive (it) not! (9) In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and Allâh has increased their disease. A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies. (10) And when it is said to them: "Make not mischief on the earth," they say: "We are only peacemakers." (11) Verily! They are the ones who make mischief, but they perceive not. (12) And when it is said to them (hypocrites): "Believe as the people (followers of Muhammad Peace be upon him , Al-Ansâr and Al-Muhajirûn) have believed," they say: "Shall we believe as the fools have believed?" Verily, they are the fools, but they know not (13) And when they meet those who believe, they say: "We believe," but when they are alone with their Shayâtin (devils - polytheists, hypocrites), they say: "Truly, we are with you; verily, we were but mocking." (14) Allâh mocks at them and gives them increase in their wrong-doings to wander blindly. (15) These are they who have purchased error for guidance, so their commerce was profitless. And they were not guided. (16) Their likeness is as the likeness of one who kindled a fire; then, when it lighted all around him, Allâh took away their light and left them in darkness. (So) they could not see. (17) They are deaf, dumb, and blind, so they return not (to the Right Path). (18) Or like a rainstorm from the sky, wherein is darkness, thunder, and lightning. They thrust their fingers in their ears to keep out the stunning thunderclap for fear of death. But Allâh ever encompasses the disbelievers (i.e. Allâh will gather them all together). (19) The lightning almost snatches away their sight, whenever it flashes for them, they walk therein, and when darkness covers them, they stand still. And if Allâh willed, He could have taken away their hearing and their sight. Certainly, Allâh has power over all things. (20)

Al-Baqara

Alif-Lâm-Mîm. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'ân and none but Allâh (Alone) knows their meanings] (1)This is the Book (the Qur'ân), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqûn [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allâh much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allâh much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)]. (2) Who believe in the Ghaib[] and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and spend out of what we have provided for them [i.e. give Zakât, spend on themselves, their parents, their children, their wives, etc., and also give charity to the poor and also in Allâh's Cause - Jihâd,]. (3) And who believe in (the Qurân and the Sunnah)[] which has been sent down (revealed) to you (Muhammad Peace be upon him ) and in that which we sent down before [the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), etc.] and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter. (Resurrection, recompense of their good and bad deeds, Paradise and Hell,) (4) They are on (true) guidance from their Lord, and they are the successful. (5)

Except those who repent and believe (in Islâmic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allâh will change their sins into good deeds, and Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful

Let them pardon and forgive. Do you not love that Allâhshould forgive you? And Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (22)Verily, those who accuse chaste women, who never even think of anything touching their chastity and are good believers,— are cursed in this life and in the Hereafter, and for them will be a great torment,— (23)
