Finding Defects

"If you find faults with Muslims, you will corrupt them."
[Abu Dawud]
"It is enough evil for a Muslim to look down upon his (Muslim) brother"
[Muslim]
If a Muslim looks for the defects of another and hunts for his weaknesses, other Muslims will also adopt the same attitude towards him, and this situation will create dissension and conflict in society. This also will make them fall prey to sins and make them persistent in committing them. For this reason, spying and finding faults with Muslims has been prohibited by Shari'ah.

Suspicion

"Beware of suspicion, for suspicion is the worst of false tales."

Angels

"The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a portrait"
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Angels here refers to angels of mercy whose visit is a blessing for homes;the angels who supervise us and record our deeds are with us at all times.

Mercy & Respect

This World vs Hereafter

[Muslim]

Only a fool would compromise the hereafter for such.

Branches of Iman

Iman (faith) has more than seventy branches; the superior most one is saying of Lailaha illallah (There is none worth of worship except Allah); and the inferior most is the removal of an obstacle from the way; and Haya is a branch of Iman.
[Muslim]
The essence of Haya is that it restrains man from evil and prevents man from neglecting the obligations that he owes to others.

Just Two Rak'at

Why we should try to do more the what is obligatory on us:
Rasulullah
(صلى الله عليه وسلم) passed by a grave and asked:
Whose grave is this?
The Sahabah replied: Of so and so
Rasulullah
(صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: For this man in the grave, the offering of two Rak'at is dearer than all your world and whatever it contains.
[Tabarani, Majma-'uz-Zawaid]

"Make things easy (for people) do not make things hard and difficult for them. Give them good tidings and do not create hatred"
[Bukhari]

We should try to encourage people by mentioning glad tiding and virtues for doing good deeds and not frighten them because of their sins so much that they despair the mercy of Allah and are thus dragged away from Deen.

Take as much as you wish

The respect of the women folk of the people who go out in the Path of Allah, on those who stay behind, is similar to the respect of their own mothers. If anyone is entrusted to look after such a family but betrays (his trust), it will be said on the Day of Resurrection that this is the man, who betrayed your family; so take as many good deeds of his as you wish.
Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وسلم)then said: " What do you think? (will this man leave any good deeds behind?

He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) replied: Yes! When wickedness prevails.

How to give advice

"Whatever is in front of you, then maybe it may have the signs of sin in it, but realise that it may have good in it. Perhaps there is 90% bad, but there is 10% good. So expand this 10% and treat it as 50%. Dont say [to such a person] that You are a sinner/transgressor. because this will decrease that 10% of good. Consider the good to be more. Perhaps Allah shall rectify this person at your hands."
Subhanallah!
You never really know what a person is like. They may seem like a sinner to you but they may actually be a ten times better Muslim.
Note: The speaker is male (lower your gaze) if need be.
Also if you guys have any advice regarding the girl I mention in previous post(s) please share. Recall she is young and does not really seem to understand hijab at all and seems to see it in a negative light.

What is your definition of poor?

Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) once asked his Sahabah (peace be upon them)
Do you know who is poor?
Sahabah replied: The poor amongst us is he who has no money or property.
Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) explained:
The poor amongst my Ummah is one, who will come on the Day of Resurrection with Salat, Saum and Zakat, but who had abused somebody, slandered someone, usurped the goods of another person, had shed blood or beaten another person. So this one and that one will be given a part of the aggressor's good deeds; should his good deeds fall short, before he clears what he owes then the aggrieved person's sins and faults will be transfered from them to him; and he will be thrown into Hell-Fire.
[Muslim]

What kind of knowledge do you have?

"Knowledge is of two types: 1. Knowledge that penetrates into the heart; this knowledge is beneficial. 2. Knowledge, that is merely on the tongue; this will be Allah's evidence against the son of Adam.
[Tarhgib]
Note: Knowledge of the tongue is referring to knowledge without practice and sincerity.

May Allah make us amongst those who seek knowledge that penetrates the heart.
Ameen.

The First Deed

Here is one of the hadith I mentioned in this post.
"The first of his deeds, for which a man will be taken into account on the Day of Resurrection, will be his Salat. If it is sound, he will be saved and successful; but if it is corrupt, he will be unfortunate and miserable. If any deficiency is found in his (obligatory) Salat,

Allah
سبحانه وتعالى will say: 'Look at My slave, whether he has any Nafl Salat so that what is lacking in the (obligatory) Salat may be made up by it.'
Then the rest of his actions Saum, Zakat, etc will be also dealt with in a similar manner."

3. Qiraat (Recitation of at least three ayas or one long aayat of the Quran).

Types of Najaasate

The two types of Najaasate are:

One: Haqeeqi
Two: Hukmi.

Najaasate Haqeeqi is that Najaasat that can be seen (External blood) e.g. stool

Najaasate Hukmi is that Najaasat (impurity and filth) which cannot be seen, e.g.
(a) Hadath
(b) Janabah.

HADATH means to be without wudhu.
JANABAH is the state of a person on whom Ghusl meaning a bath has become Compulsory. It is necessary that one's body should be free from both types of Najaasat before performing Namaaz.

The Companions

Note: I am aware that this video has men in it so if you do not understand you can scroll down that way you can avoid looking yet still read the subtitles.
The companions were indeed something very special, Subhanallah how amazing they were. Right now we are at a lost. Look at us. Our ummah. Whats happened? This ummah is made up of people like you and I. Lets make an effort. We are the next generation Lets learn and inshallah become amongst those whose children will value and honor Islam not defame it. Let's try to bring the love, the zeal the companions peace be upon them had for knowledge & Islam into our lives.

Eight Conditions

EIGHT CONDITIONS THAT MUST BE OBSERVED BEFORE ONE PERFORMS SALAH (NAMAAZ).

1. To make Wudhu if necessary.
2. To make Ghusl if necessary.
3. Taharah (cleanliness) of body and dress.
4. Taharah (cleanliness) of place.
5. Facing towards the Qiblah.
6. Covering of the Satr (private parts).
7. Niyyah (intention) for Namaaz.
8. Performing Salaat at the prescribed times.

If any one of these conditions is omitted, Salaat will not be accepted.

Notes: A Males satr is from the navel to the knees (including knees.)
A Females satr is her entire body except her face and hands to the wrist.

Taharah (cleanliness) means one be free from all Najaasate (Filth and Impurities).

There are two types of Najaasate which we will cover in the next post inshallah.

Ps. This and a lot more is covered in the book Taleem-Ul-Haq

Gates of heaven

The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) used to perform four Rak'ah prayer after the declining of the sun before Zuhr prayer and would say " This is an hour at which the gates of heaven are opened and I like that my good deeds should rise to heaven at that time."

Note: The prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) used to perform the four Rak'ah Sunnah of the Zuhr prayer when the sun started declining. In fact except for Isha he would perform every salat at its early hours.
Zuhr has 12 Rak'ats

Would you not like your good deeds to rise to heaven when the gates open?

My mission and maybe yours too

After reading maghrib salah today I was just sitting on the musallah(prayer rug) thinking about the way I pray. I thought about the story of a man who went to sell an object and when he showed it to the buyer the man said he would give so and so money. The seller asked why so little? The buyer who was an expert in his field began to point out flaws in the product. The seller began to cry. The buyer became alarmed and said okay I will give you so and so but don’t cry. The seller said that is not why I am crying. I am crying because I am thinking about my salah. The seller is wondering if Allah will accept his salah.*

Think about the way you pray.

Does your mind wander, do you make mistakes in your recitation, forget which rakaat you are on, etc?

Our salah is one of the very first things we will be asked about, if it is well then everything else will be easy as well** but if it is not then.. may Allah have mercy on you.

What can we do? How can we save our selves?

Did you know that if there is an discrepancy in your salah then Allah will tell the angels to see if you have any nafl(optional) salah and those will be used to fill the discrepancy.*** So my dear brothers and sisters I have an idea.

What if every day you prayed 2 nafl salah.

(If you already read so n so amount add two more)

Gradually you can increase it but lets start with two inshallah. Imagine, these 2 nafl can be the difference between hell and heaven for you. They can help determine your fate. You can pray them like right after you come out of the shower in the morning that way you have wudhu as it is. I'm sure 5 minutes for this will be well worth it in the akirah. Or at night before bed when you are reading surah ya-seen and other surahs that have great rewards for being read before bed. This is my mission.(mission sounds better then goal heh) To pray two (more) rakaats everyday inshallah until it becomes habit.

Why don’t you try this with me?

I will inshallah be there for you if you need encouragement, advice or anything else.

We can do this together.

Who’s with me?

*I read this story in a kitaab years ago. I wrote it from memory so its paraphrased. The original story is very beautiful inshallah I will look for it and post it up.

** & *** I also read these in a kitaab. I don’t remember which one so again I will look for them and post it.

Edit: **& ***= "The first of his deeds, for which a man will be taken into account on the Day of Resurrection, will be his Salat. If it is sound, he will be saved and successful; but if it is corrupt, he will be unfortunate and miserable. If any deficiency is found in his (obligatory) Salat,
Allah will say: '
Look at My slave, whether he has any Nafl Salat so that what is lacking in the (obligatory) Salat may be made up by it.'
Then the rest of his actions Saum , Zakat, etc will be also dealt with in a similar manner."
[Tirmidhi]

I am still looking for the story as unfortunately I do not remember which book it is in. If you have read it before please let me know.

Islamic reminder (Patience)

"How wonderful is the case of a believer; there is good for him in everything and this applies only to a believer. If prosperity attends him, he expresses gratitude to Allah and that is good for him; and if adversity befalls him, he endures it patiently and that is better for him."
[Muslim]
I was going to post this on my personal blog but since its more of an Islamic reminder thought it was more appropriate here.
Sometimes things happen and we don't understand why. What did I ever do? We question, dissect, and analyze. We need to realize that everything happens because
Allah سبحانه وتعالى wanted it to happen. All the good, the supposed bad, everything. Who knows whats best for us then the one who created us. Sometimes things seem really bad but look for the good in the situation because this thing may actually be good but we haven't realized it yet. I'm sure you will find at least one good aspect in it. I know with me these last couple days some things happened that I thought were bad but I learned a lesson so it wasn't completely bad. So try to look at your situation from a different angle and remember everything that you go through is part of the grand plan. Allah سبحانه وتعالى is wise. He knows whats best for us. When something happens just think 'Subhanallah! worst could have happened. Alhumdulillah! It didn't happen.'(Hamid)

Truth

Sometimes when one tells the truth it seems like one is punished for it but remember:
"Truth leads to piety and piety leads to Jannah. A man persists in speaking the truth till he is enrolled with Allah as a truthful. Falsehood leads to vice and vice leads to the Fire(Hell), and a person persists on telling lies until he is enrolled as a liar.
[Agreed Upon]
(Riyad-Us-Saliheen Chapter 4, Hadith #54.)

Satanic thought

"A strong believer is better and dearer to Allah than a weak one, and both are good. Adhere to that which is beneficial for you. Keep asking Allah for help and do not refrain from it. If you are afflicted in any way, do not say: 'If I had taken this or that step, it would have resulted in such and such,' but say only 'Allah so determined and did as He willed.' The word 'If' opens the gates of satanic thoughts."
[Muslim]

Falsehood

"Give up what is doubtful to you for that which is not doubtful;for truth is peace of mind and falsehood is doubt."

The God Fearing

"It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces to the East and the West; but righteous is he who believeth in Allah and the Last Day and the angels and the Scripture and the prophets; and giveth wealth, for love of Him, to kinsfolk and to orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and to those who ask, and to set slaves free; and observeth proper worship and payeth the poor-due. And those who keep their treaty when they make one, and the patient in tribulation and adversity and time of stress. Such are they who are sincere. Such are the God-fearing."
